Well, it sure has been a hot minute. I can truly say life has been quite busy. In the meantime, I've let this little business of mine slide for the past few weeks. I'm better prepared mentally now to get back in the game. Exhaustion has been pretty terrible and it definitely got to me. I haven't worked out myself these past two weeks. Like, not at all. Not even a little bit. Well, I guess that's not exactly true. I've been going on short, 15 minute walks at my day job twice a day, M-F. That's helped keep me sane.
What happens when life gets in the way? You do what you can. You take walks here and there as you can. Plank it out for a minute each morning. Stretch in the mornings. Any little thing is much better than nothing at all. Eat better during this time also. If you normally workout and enjoy a daily treat, maybe only have the treat once or twice during the week you're not working out.
I've got all my workouts for the next week scheduled into my calendar though to get back into it. You're making appointments with yourself and that definitely helps you to get back to it. I'll ease myself back into it as well. Unfortunately, after 48 hours your body starts to lose what you had. It will be like starting over again. So, instead of my normal weight, I'll back it off by a few pounds. That's always the suggested way of starting over again. If it's been awhile (longer than 5 or 6 days) then you don't want to jump in where you left off at. That's how injuries happen. Instead, test the waters first with lowering the weight by 2-10lbs off what you normally do. If it's easy, add another pound or two.
Why 2-10lbs? Well, when we increase our weight it's by 2-10lbs, depending on the muscle group you're working, so decreasing by that weight is fine too. Maybe you need to decrease it by more, maybe your old weight is fine. Just be sure to test it first. Don't let your ego lead your weight. You want to get stronger and better... not injured.
Friday I will publish the monthly newsletter announcing the start of the plank challenge. I will also post December's Workout. So be on the lookout for those!
In the meantime, let's do this... Together!
We got this, my friends!
